The rule that makes the chase end
The chaser moves faster than the runners, and that is what makes the game exist. With the same speed on both sides, a chase on a grid simply does not end: nobody catches anybody, the clock runs out, and whoever was drawn as it at the start finishes with the whole forty seconds on their tally.
In other words: without that difference, the draw decided last place before anyone touched a button.
The speed belongs to the role, not the driver
Humans and bots go through the same movement code, and the cadence comes from being it or not. Previously the bot moved considerably slower than a human in any role: humans caught bots instantly, and bots never caught humans.
Head start and no tag-backs
- Head start: at the beginning the chaser is held in place, and their clock does not run during that time.
- No tag-backs: whoever just passed the flame cannot immediately receive it again — otherwise two players stuck together would trade it between themselves while the rest of the room watched.
How scoring works
Each player's clock runs while they are it. At the end, whoever accumulated less time wins. It is not about catching — it is about not staying.
