The fuse is hidden, and it is short
Each round the bomb starts in a random player's hands, and the fuse lasts between six and fifteen seconds. You cannot see how much is left — nobody can. Whoever is holding it when it goes off is eliminated.
Passing is instant: pick a person and the bomb goes. The problem is that passing too early hands the whole clock back to the table, and the fuse might be a long one.
The real decision
Since the fuse has no indicator, the only data available is how long the bomb has been circulating. Receiving it in the first seconds of a round is almost safe; receiving it after ten seconds of passing around is the worst seat at the table.
Hence the read: holding for a moment when the round has just started earns you social credit, and getting rid of it instantly when the round is already old is pure survival.
Until one is left
Each explosion eliminates one player, and the next round starts with whoever remains. Last one alive wins. With fewer people at the table the time between passes shortens — and the final rounds are the tensest precisely because there is less room to send it to.
Against the bot
The bot holds the bomb between 0.7 and 2.3 seconds before passing, and picks its destination at random among the living. It holds no grudges — but it does you no favours either.
