Five seconds, and everybody answers
A sum appears with four options. The round does not close on the first correct answer: it stays open for five seconds, with a timer at the top, and pays by arrival order — 100, 75, 50 and 25 points.
Getting it wrong takes you out of that round. So speed without confidence is expensive.
Why it does not close on the first answer
Closing on the first, the whole round was decided by one reflex and whoever did not get there never even found out whether they would have been right. A slightly slower player spent the match watching.
With the window open, being fast is still worth more — but being right is always worth something.
The reveal is a queue
At the end of the round the tiles appear in real arrival order, and each one hops in turn with its points floating up. The order comes from the server deliberately: only it knows who actually got there first, and every screen would build a different queue.
Two different counts
The visible scoreboard is points. But the site's challenges read the number of sums answered correctly, which is kept separately — otherwise a challenge for 'get four sums right' would complete on the first correct answer of one match.
