🏰 Packed Castles

A procession files into five castles, one villager at a time. Work out which one filled up the most and tap it first — the choice is exclusive, and only one player gets each castle.

Counting is not enough: you have to be fast

Between 75 and 150 villagers leave the lower gate and enter the five castles over about forty seconds. Then the procession ends and everyone has eight seconds to choose which castle they think is fullest.

The choice is exclusive: the first player to tap a castle keeps it, and the others need another one. Knowing the right answer does not help if somebody tapped first — and that is the difference between this game and a counting test.

The five castles are identical on purpose

Only the banner differs, and it carries both a colour and a symbol — so you can tell them apart without relying on just one. The architecture is identical because any difference would become a false clue.

Totals run from 15 to 30 per castle, and second place is always within one to three villagers of first. It is deliberately tight: with a big gap, the game would be a glance.

The five totals are always distinct, and that is a rule

Two castles never tie. If they did, two gates would close on the same beat of the reveal and two players would tie on villagers — and then the tie-break would fall to seat order, which is the kind of thing that already ruined another game on this site.

Distinct, the gates close one at a time and the ranking is a complete order, with no arbitrariness.

The reveal

The castles empty together, one villager per beat, with a counter climbing above each one. A gate closes when that castle runs out — so the last to close is the fullest.

It is the part where you find out, beat by beat, whether your guess had any basis or you just followed the noisiest castle.

Not choosing still plays

Eight seconds passed and you tapped nothing? You are given a free castle at random. With five castles and at most four players, one is always left over — nobody is shut out of the reveal.

Indecision does not eliminate you; it only costs you the right to choose.

Against the bot

The bot estimates each castle with an error proportional to its level — about 20% on easy, 10% on normal and 4% on hard — and picks the best among the castles still free. Against the hard one, hesitating costs you the right castle.
