💰 Blind Auction

Bid in secret: the highest bid takes the points and pays the coins. Tie at the top and the prize rolls over to the next round.

How it works

Each round has a prize in view and everyone bids in secret, at the same time. The highest bid takes the prize and pays the coins it offered; everyone else keeps their money.

The tension is the usual one in a blind auction: bidding too little wins nothing, bidding too much wins the prize at a price that was not worth it.

Two rules exist only so the table does not die

Income each round. Everyone receives coins every round. Without it, anyone who spent everything early was stuck bidding zero and became a spectator for the rest of the match, with no play available at all.

A tie at the top rolls over. If two players make the same highest bid, nobody takes it and the prize carries to the next round. Ties are common (everyone sees the same prize), and watching the prize evaporate punished the whole table. Rolling over, a tie becomes a threat — and the next round is worth double.

No slider

The bid is the only decision in the game, so it could not depend on finger precision. On a phone, a 44-pixel slider is a lottery. The bid is chosen with discrete taps, which give the same result on a computer and on a phone.
